AST Exhibits developed a traveling exhibit of Rob Storter’s work and made sure it could safely travel the globe.
Rob Storter lived at a time when much of southwest Florida was considered America’s last frontier. He was born in 1894 and wore dresses until he was 3 years old.
AST Exhibits handled logistics and conservation framing for over 30 pieces of original artwork. We provided graphic design and production for 3 narrative introduction panels as well as 30 label graphics. We also provided highly customized crates to ensure safe shipping for all of the elements. The exhibit opened at the Mennello Museum in Orlando, Florida in 2013 and is currently available.
- Three graphic panels introduce guests to Rob Storter and help put his work into context.
- AST Exhibits was able to faithfully recreate Rob Storter’s signature on this final graphic panel for the display.
- We used conservation framing techniques to ensure that the artwork was available to visitors far into the future.
- We used a rugged-looking texture for the background of these panels to remind visitors of a time when even paper was made by hand.
- 30 original pieces of artwork are displayed with plenty of information about the artist and his subject
- For these larger panels it was important to develop a style that compliments Storter’s work and at the same time stands out from it.
- The artwork is arranged with discreet interpretive labels.
- Descriptive text panels often accompany art works. AST Exhibits created this piece for a travelling exhibition of the work of Robert Storter.
