Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run your television for three hours. After we installed our last exhibition we took some time to clean up the shop. Instead of just filling the dumpster with all the scraps and leftovers from the job, we took some extra time and pulled out the recyclables. After two full days of sorting we gathered up the metals and trucked them over to the recycling center. It felt good and we got back enough cash to fund a couple months’ worth of Taco Tuesdays.
Our industry is not typically known for being environmentally friendly. We use a lot of paints, chemicals and wood. However, here at AST Exhibits we’ve started to look for the little things that can make a difference. When possible we use quick growing bamboo instead of traditional lumber. Every lighting fixture we’ve installed since 2010 has been LED. As Earth friendly epoxies and coatings become available, we are switching vendors and techniques. Every little step is a step in the right direction.
If the energy saved from one recycled aluminum can is enough to power a television for three hours, then we easily recycled enough aluminum to power your computer for an hour. Why not spend a few of those minutes checking out our latest update on the South Florida Science Museum expansion project? The exhibits are starting to really take shape and we are excited about the upcoming installation.
